On August 19th, 2008, the fourth Session of the Partnership Steering Committee of Rural water supply and sanitation partnership was held at the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD). The session was chaired by Deputy Minister of MARD, Mr. Dao Xuan Hoc – head of RWSSP Steering Committee. About 50 participants from relevant international agencies and organizations attended the session.The session focused on three main contents: the report on “Implementation progress of the workplan for the first half of year 2008”; the report on “The results of implementation of National Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Strategy Program (NWSS) for the first half of year 2008”; the report on “Implementation and updateing situation of RWSS strategy, supervision and evaluation system for rural water supply and environmental sanitation”.
In subsequence of the presentation of three reports and comments contributed by participants, the gathering agreed and came to the conclusions as follows:
- Approving reports for the first six months of the RWSS Partnership
- Acquiring ideas from participants to supplement necessary activities with a view to meeting requirements and objectives of the RWSS Partnership, preparing to build suitable plans for the next years.
- Enhancing the close coordination with relevant parties in the Ministry and domestic and international partners to finalize the plan 2008.
- Extending the scope of coordination, collaboration in policy dialogue, information sharing, and initiative multiplication.
On behalf of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Deputy Minister highly appreciated the efforts of the parties in deploying of the plan 2008 and expressed his sincere thanks to sponsors for their precious assistance in the field of RWSS.
