Asia: unexpected growth of water markets in 2003 and 2004
Increasing water problems in Asia are leading to high growth rates of
the markets and government investments in 15 Asian countries. The
growth was US$ 31.9 billion (EUR 26 billion) in 2003 and will be US$
41.7 billion (EUR 34 billion) in 2004, reports Helmut Kaiser
Consultancy (Beijing and Tuebingen) in a recent market study. Several
Asian countries like China, Japan, Taiwan, Korea and Vietnam increased
there investments in drinking water, waste water and water treatment
in the last 18 months dramatically.
Less than 8 percent of the waste water is treated today. The Asian
market will increase to US$ 61.8 billion (EUR 50.3 billion) in 2008
and US$ 117.3 billion (EUR 95.5 billion) in 2015, says the company.
But even with this money at that time still less than 30 percent of
the waste water will be treated. The study can be purchased, starting
with EUR 2,900 for a summary.
